On March 31, 1904 Ernesto Del Cogliano (20) and his wife Luigia (Louise) left Naples, Italy on the SS Umbria and arrived in New York City on April 13, 1904. Shortly after Francesco (Paolo 26) arrived on July 5, 1905 aboard the SS Calabria. Paolo worked as a machinist and Ernesto as a tailor. When they made enough money they brought over their two other brothers. Vincenzo (18) arrived on May 29, 1906 on the SS Lazio and Umberto (17) arrived on Oct 1906 on the SS Sicilia. All four brothers work hard to make enough money to bring over their parents and sisters. Their parents Ludevico and Giuseppina and three sisters, Nelinda, Nancy and Minnie arrived on June 23, 1907 aboard the SS Campania, which is pictured below. Thus started the family tree we have today. My grandfather Vincenzo was a piano maker and furniture finisher. My grandparents picture below was taken at my parents wedding in 1933. Some of the other pictures below show family gatherings at which many first cousins enjoyed each others company. |
